Teams looking for players and |

The OCVL is a team league which means that registration is done by team and not by individual player. Accordingly, individuals looking to join a team may find it challenging if they do not know anyone and/or are new to the region. As for team captains, similar challenges exist when they are recruiting to fill some positions on their rosters. If you are new to Ottawa or the OCVL and you wish to join a team, you may add yourself to our spares list. To do so you will need to create an OCVL account which can be done by following the instructions at the “players area” at www.ocvl.com. The spares list can be viewed by team captains and assistant captains looking to add players to their teams. Please note that the spares list will be purged once team registration opens (early August); thus if you added you name to that list before then, you will have to login again after registration opens and add yourself once again to the spares list. Unfortunately,
registering as a spare does not allow a player to do any active searching for
a team; it is also limited recruiting tool for team captains. Hence, a second
option: Facebook! www.Facebook.com is a relatively new approach to OCVL team building. It was introduced in the 2007-2008 season and proved to be quite useful in uniting many teams and players. To use this service, one must go to Facebook.com and create their own personal account -- it's free! However, before proceeding, please read the following:
Now,
should you decide to proceed with Facebook, go to the group called “OCVL Player and Team Networking” in which
there are 2 discussion boards set up: one for players looking for teams and another for teams looking for players. Within
these groups, you may add a posting. PLEASE NOTE: YOU NEED TO JOIN THE GROUP “OCVL Player and Team Networking” IN ORDER TO POST ON THE DISCUSSION BOARDS. Then select whichever discussion board you wish to post to and enter your info. If you are a player looking for a team, be sure to include the position you play (e.g. setter, middle, power, offside, libero) your past experience (e.g. high school, university intramural, university varsity, OCVL, club teams) and at what level
(Tier 1,2,3,etc..) and in which division(s) (Men’s, Women’s, or Mixed) you wish to play. Similarly, if you are a team captain, specify, what position and level of player you are looking for. The
OCVL discussion boards have grown and membership have grown greatly on
Facebook. For a more complete search of players or teams, you do a
search on “OCVL” and you may find other players and team captains who are already actively searching for teams and players. To go to FACEBOOK.com,
